Buying a Used Car

Buying a used car can at times feel like a gamble, especially if you aren't familiar with what is normal and what isn't with usual vehicle wear and tear. In this page we will cover some of the basics and help you understand what you can look for to avoid buying a "lemon". A lemon is a car, often new, that is found to be defective only after it has been bought.

And for some extra piece of mind when buying a used car we offer a new car inspection.
  • Looks - Looks are probably the first thing that we notice about a vehicle. Looks matter so much to us in fact you probably have a specific vehicle that you like the looks of and that is "the car" you want because those looks are what you want. Now when it comes to buying a car we need to be careful. We often hear don't judge a book by its cover, well same goes for a car. We could find a car that looks immaculate but when we look under the hood things could be held together by gum and tape. On the other hand the vehicle could have a few dent's but could have had its maintenance done regularly and run like a top.
  • Paint - When a vehicle is new coming from the factory a vehicles paint is usually perfect. Often when a vehicle owner gets into an accident or messes up the paint they go to get it fixed. A lot of times the owner wants to get it painted cheap and this cheap paint job will be at your expense. When looking at the paint you want to look for paint on trim or rubber strips showing that it was probably a repaint. Do all the body parts match? Use light to look at any paint from different angles. Orange peel looking finishes instead of mirror are almost always signs of repaint. Stand back and look at the vehicle carefully. Good 'blend" jobs are hard to spot.
